The 2/26+28/73 shows are in the Dicks Picks collection. Buy them. The left overs from these two days are found on the E-tree Community tracker if you want all of the first sets...

Well I don't want to be a bummer. Apparantly a lot of people have success with it but I just personally found it worthless. Aside from the AUD's here I've been getting plenty from gdlive. Also, that nugs.net has some great shows. They're the forbidden MP3's but hey I just downloaded the entire five nights of the from Egypt with love Winterland Oct 78 shows and they by and large sound great. And I did it in TWO days!

forbidden mp3's - lol
so much has been trashed about mp3's. as long as you let the person know they are mp3's when you trade or just share - i dont see the problem that some people do. whenever i am not sure of the file type when i share, i just warn the recipient that "i just don't know." as long as it sounds good to me, and i am not uploading them anyware (like i know how - lol) - they sound good to me :)

if some poeple have a problem with them - to each his own. they still sound great in my bose home and car stereo system - some are a hell of a lot better that the shn/flac soundboards ive downloaded.
to those who disaggree with me...."I fart in your general direction" (sorry watched The Holy Grail last night)

If you pull up the Dead shows on bt.etree.org or shnflac.net I can't imagine you'd think its worthless. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worth the effort, which is minimal once you are up and running. If you can use archive, BT is one step away.

I didn't find that to be the case. It took me allmost two days to DL one show then when I tried to convert the whole second set crapped out again and again. I don't beleive my version of MKW will convert flac, I used a different't program. Both programs I had I got from a bt.tree DL so you would think it would have worked. Anyways so after all that effort I ended up with only the first set and it was a boomy sounding Oakland Colliseum audience NOT SBD. I imagine once I get what I can out there I might try it again but more likely will just start doing B&P's or trade. Do you guys have a PC or a Mac? That might tell us all the answer right there on how worth it it is or isn't.

No, the MKW tool won't convert flac, you need the flac frontend for those type files.
Btw, Which Oakland show on bt.etree.org did you have trouble with? I'd like to check those prob's out myself.
I use a regular PC, not Mac

I'd have to look it up. It was either the 89 or 90 new years run but I don't remember if it was the 27 or 28. Just was trying to get all the shows I went to.

Cosmic charlies right- use flac frontend (ype it into google, I also remember there may be a sight called michaelwren.com from the guy who wrote the program. I had a problem or two way back when, but never since. Really worth trying to get it down. You have dsl right? If so, try it with a show that has tons of seeders to reduce your download time.

Assuming cable modem is like dsl, that should not be the problem. My guess is you chose a show running slow due to lack of seeders. This sounds repetitive-sorry.

I don't have any problems streaming at work just at home. The only problem at work is I have to find excuses to be at my desk/bench. : )

and once it's DL'd (100%), you can convert the flac's or shorten files to wave. In the case of shorten files, make sure that in the "options" tab on the mkw Audio Compression Tool is NOT checked in the "delete input files after loosless processing" check box. That way you can DL and burn those converted files without causing an error messege that halts the torrent in the upload phase.

Don't give up wolf. Harold920 gives some pretty clear and simple steps. Have you seen whats available on sites like bt.etree.org, dimeadozen.org and shnflac.net. Man, if thats not incentive enough to learn and be patient then I'll fn put on your computer when I blow thru N.E. tomorrow. Actually I won't be close enough, but its really not that big a deal. I'll download a slow show while at work or asleep and its there in the morning or when I get back from work. Depending on the number of seeders, speeds can be 5x faster than archive. Its all about the number of seeders on a show, usually desinated uner the letter S.
